Announcement: I am back to seeing clients for one-on-therapy. If you reside in New York State and are interested in working with me, book a 15-minute consultation.
Hi! 2025 has been a whirlwind. I was supposed to return and send out a newsletter the first week of January, but trying to find words to type felt like an insurmountable amount of labor that I didn’t have the energy to manage.
Over the last few months, I have been slowly shifting how I show up on social media. I love the community I built on platforms like Instagram and Threads, but one challenge of being connected to a digital community is that it requires constant engagement with the internet and my phone.
I consider myself an ambivert, which means I have both introverted and extroverted tendencies. I thrive around people, but I also have moments when I need solitude and complete disconnection. In the digital space, this duality shows up too—sometimes I'm happily scrolling and commenting on posts from my digital connections, and other times I need to hit pause on all of it and feel like throwing my phone into the Atlantic Ocean when I hear the sound of a text ping or email notification.
I shift between wanting to be present and live in the rawness of life, while wondering what my life would be like if I completely vanished and had no digital footprint. I built my career through social media, got a book deal because of social media, and you're reading this newsletter because you found me on social media. Will I decide to disappear entirely? Probably not anytime soon. But will I give myself permission to rewrite the rules of digital engagement? Yes, I absolutely will.
For now, social media is keeping me connected to the community I want to build. It’s keeping me connected to you. And what I know is that I no longer want a screen to be a barrier to intimacy and connection. So 2025 is going to be a year of in-person events and gatherings.
I am currently working on building out community events in NYC through my other platform, I'M SO MATURE, and I hope to take these events on the road to different cities.
In addition, I am pouring my energy into places that feel nourishing. One of those places is my podcast, Mindful With Minaa, which you can listen to wherever you listen to podcasts.
After a four-year break, I am also back to seeing clients for one-on-one therapy. If you are a resident of NYC and interested in working with me for therapy, please read more about who I am and my therapeutic modalities here. You can also book a 15-minute consultation with me.
I completely understand. I feel that way about myself too. Especially when your work is tied to it and Social Media is now an important part of "work" it can be so overwhelming. It has become beyond addictive now, it has become competitive and way too strategic. It's so awesome that you're concentrating on gatherings and in-person work. I wish you all the best and I'm excited for you :)
