I've been working in the mental health industry since 2014, and I recently realized that I am ready for a change.
There is something magical and interesting about decades. Those ten-year marks tend to be seasons of adjustment, pivoting, starting over, or simply moving on. For the last year, I have been experiencing what I call work resistance: a lack of desire to engage in work at the same frequency or a lack of desire to engage in work at all.
The desire to pivot was strange for me because my book, Owning Our Struggles, was about to debut. I felt obligated to remain in a space that I believed I had outgrown. However, once the book was published, I knew I couldn't maintain the standards I had set for myself.
I am finally ready to accept that I am prepared to elevate my work to the next level. I am ready to reap the fruits of my labor and allow myself the opportunity to make changes in all areas of my life.
When people discuss healing, they often focus on the emotional state, forgetting that actions like quitting a job, moving to a new city, ending a relationship, cleaning out your closet, or changing your mind can all be acts of healing.
I'm not sure what's next for me in life, but I am open to seeing where life takes me while doing the work of crafting new ideas and trying new things.
What's one significant change that you've been resisting recently? How would it look if you allowed yourself to fully embrace that change and accept the need to pivot?
